<abstract displayLabel="Scope and content">Retrato del diestro José Gómez Ortega, tras su regreso de Perú en 1920, de rodillas junto a la barrera, moviendo la capa para incitar la acometida del toro. El astado, ya banderilleado, de la ganadería de Guadalest, como se puede ver en la marca del hierro grabada a fuego en el lomo, permanece parado frente al diestro. En la arena descansa un pañuelo que el torero ha arrojado en un intento de provocar la embestida del morlaco. En el tendido el público se levanta, y en el callejón se agolpa en el espacio tras el maestro, para contemplar mejor la faena</abstract>
