Alcance y contenido: Edificio monumental en la Plaza de Canalejas de Madrid, sede histórica del Banco Hispano Americano, declarado Bien de Interés Cultural en 1999. La decoración escultórica de la fachada, de gran calidad y cuidado diseño, está al servicio de la arquitectura, especialmente la fachada principal, encajada en un amplio chaflán curvo, desde donde está tomada esta fotografía. Dentro del conjunto destacan los dos templetes que flanquean la puerta principal, con peanas y doseles de abigarrado diseño y profusa decoración vegetal de estilo neorrenacentista, donde se ubican las siguientes figuras alegóricas, El Cálculo, representado como un varón con toga que se lleva pensativo la mano a la cabeza y La Economía, representada por una figura femenina con túnica y un arca entre las manos. Ambas, obra del escultor José Alcoverro
